Longevity Diet - Okinawan Style


Umibudo
Literally known as 'Sea Grapes', is a type of seaweed packed with minerals and vitamins. Research have shown that Umibudo have high nutritional value and beauty value. It is also known to reduce blood pressure, a cancer prevention food, as well as strengthen bones and joints.


Tofu
An excellent source of protein, iron, calcium and other minerals. Tofu is very versatile ingredients with many health benefits such as to maintain a healthy liver.

Shima tofu and Jimami tofu are among the famous ones in Okinawa which Shima tofu contains double amount of protein than a normal tofu, whereas Jimami tofu is made from peanuts with a little chewy and sweet taste.


Goya
The iconic bitter gourd is one of the best anti-aging food in Okinawa. Rich in Vitamin C, Goya offers a lot of healthy benefits such as improved blood circulation and a boost for immune system, as well as lower blood sugar level and cholestrol to avoid getting cardiovascular diseases.


Seaweed
Besides using them in many dishes, Seaweed is highly nutritious as well. It is well knows to be a source of food that contains lots of good vitamins and minerals that will improve your immune system and reduce heart risks too. What's more? It was also a good diet food and help lose weight since its known to been able to curb hunger.


Fish
Okinawan eat 3 servings of fish a week, on average. The nutrients found in tuna, salmon and sardines include omega-3 fatty acids that helps prevent heart diseases, Alzheimer and diabetes. It also contains Vitamin B12 that helps with brain and cells development and selenium which boost immune system.
